Sakari Männistö is a classically trained trumpet player, an industrial designer and a letterpress printer trained under Thomas Gravemaker in Amsterdam. He was born in Rauma, but moved to Turku in the mid-1990s when he was accepted at the conservatory of Turku. Männistö later studied design at the Turku Arts Academy, where he founded the industrial design company Solar Design. He bought his first table top press in 2013, and set up the Letterpress House workshop a couple of years later.

The Aura Antikva project is an ongoing collaboration between Männistö and Monokrom’s Frode Helland, springing out from the first Finnish printing press, founded in Turku in 1642.
