The type specimen of Georg Schmidt from 1742.

The eight largest type sizes shown in Lübeck type founder Georg Schmidt’s specimen of 1742 comes from the hand of the local printer Johann Nicolaus Thun. Its most recognizable features are the leaf-like serifs and the strange stacatto rhythm of the italics. This design is first shown in an earlier type specimen printed by Thun himself.Thun, 1724.
