End user license agreement

  • Typefaces available from Monokrom Skriftforlag AS are the intellectual property of their respective designers, with licensing rights and trademarks governed by the company.
  • Font licenses are offered with limitations detailed in the license texts below and the invoice accompanying the font file delivery.
  • Licenses are perpetual, and require no recurring fees.
  • Licenses can be upgraded at any point. Our webshop will only charge the difference.
  • Once you download and/or install and/or use the font files, you are confirming you understand and agree to the terms of this agreement, and that you have the authority to bind the person or entity specified on your sales receipt to the terms of this agreement.

Desktop license

You get

  • Fully featured installable fonts with a complete character set.

You may

  • Install the font files on your personal computer/workstation. The default Desktop license is limited to 5 users. Licensing options covering additional users are available in our webshop.
  • Use the fonts to produce static/uneditable text and graphics.

You may not

  • Upload the font files to a web server and embed them in a website.
  • Embed the font files in computer software.
  • Modify the font files.
  • Redistribute or sell the font files.
  • Reuse the font files, or portions of the font files, in commercial or open-source projects.
  • Use the fonts for TV broadcasting, or any other audiovisual production defined under the Broadcast license. Please contact us for a quote.
  • Include the font files in OEM hardware or bundle them with third-party products as defined under the OEM license. Please contact us for a quote.

Web license

You get

  • Fully featured embeddable fonts with a complete character set.

You may

  • Upload the font files to a web server and embed them in a website. The default Web license is limited to 500,000 pageviews/month. Licensing options covering additional traffic are available in our webshop.
  • Use the font files to produce dynamic/editable text and graphics on the website.

You may not

  • Install the fonts on a personal computer/workstation.
  • Embed the font files in computer software.
  • Modify the font files.
  • Redistribute or sell the font files.
  • Reuse the font files, or portions of the font files, in commercial or open-source projects.
  • Use the fonts for TV broadcasting, or any other audiovisual production defined under the Broadcast license. Please contact us for a quote.

App license

You may not

  • Install the fonts on a personal computer/workstation.
  • Upload the font files to a web server and embed them in a website.
  • Modify the font files.
  • Redistribute or sell the font files.
  • Reuse the font files, or portions of the font files, in commercial or open-source projects.

  • Reuse the font files, or portions of the font files, in commercial or open-source font publications. You are, however free to publish any graphics produced with the font files.

Free trial license

You get

  • Limited installable fonts with a minimal character set (A–Z, a–z, 0–9 and basic punctuation).

You may

  • Install the fonts on a personal computer/workstation.
  • Use the fonts for internal testing purposes.
  • Use the fonts for presenting possible artistic directions to clients.

You may not

  • Produce commercial work with the font files.
  • Upload the font files to a web server and embed them in a website.
  • Modify the font files.
  • Redistribute or sell the font files.
  • Reuse the font files, or portions of the font files, in commercial or open-source projects.
  • Use the fonts for TV broadcasting, or any other audiovisual production defined under the Broadcast license. Please contact us for a quote.

Broadcast license

Available on request

  • The Broadcast license covers use of the font files in audiovisual productions on television, in cinema, in online and wireless media, video-on-demand, download-to-own and in audio-visual productions stored on static media. Please contact us for a quote.

OEM license

Available on request

  • The OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) license covers third-party product bundling and inclusion of the font files in hardware/devices (including, but not limited to, printers, consoles, medical hardware). Please contact us for a quote.

General terms

Warranty and support

  • Monokrom strive to produce our Font Software in accordance with the latest version of the OpenType Specification and current font production standards. If a License Holder can demonstrate that the Font Software does not function accordingly, Monokrom will remedy any shortcomings. Should Monokrom fail to remedy the shortcomings within 30 days of first notification, License Holder is entitled to ask for a refund of the full Licensing Fee within another 30 days. Upon refund, the License agreement is terminated with immediate effect and any further use of the Font Software strictly forbidden.

License breach

  • If the License Holder is notified by Monokrom, or in any other way become aware, of a breach of the License agreement, they have 14 days to acquire a License that covers their use of the Font Software. If the License Holder fails to acquire the proper License within this period, License Holder’s rights to use of the Font Software are terminated with immediate effect.
  • After termination of the License, License Holder must destroy all copies of the Font Software.
  • Breach of the License Terms incurs a penalty payment of minimum €5000, maximum half of the total Licensing Fee. Use of the Font Software without the proper License, adds the full Licensing Fee to the penalty payment.
  • All costs arising from a dispute about, or a violation of, this License are to be borne by the License Holder. License Holder will reimburse Monokrom all costs arising from a dispute about violations of this License agreement.
  • Any payments relating to a breach of contract, including but not limited to penalties, Licensing Fee, and legal costs, are due within seven – 7 – days from our sending of such invoices to License Holder by email or otherwise.

Rights reserved

  • Any and all rights not expressly granted in this agreement are reserved to Monokrom.

Warranties

  • Monokrom warrants that it has the right and authority to enter into this License agreement, and that the Font Software do not infringe any third party intellectual property rights.

Liability

  • Monokrom’s liability is limited to gross negligence and intent, as well as to the total amount of the Licensing Fee. Monokrom is under no circumstances responsible for any lost revenue, time, etc.

Applicable law and court of jurisdiction

  • Any dispute regarding the validity, performance or interpretation of this License agreement shall be governed by the laws of the state of Norway, and any civil lawsuit shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Oslo, Norway.
