Tver’ Karelian is a South Karelian dialect and a variant of Karelian Proper. The Tver Karelian emerged from Eastern Orthodox Karelians migrating in the seventeenth century. The enclave is geographically isolated from the other Karelian dialects and occupy the region north of the city of Tver’, approximately 180 km northwest of Moscow. Koivisto, 2023
