The Uralic languages is a family of languages descended from a common Proto-Uralic ancestor that was most likely spoken near the south part of the Ural mountains about 7000–10 000 years ago. The Uralic languages comprise the Fenno-Ugric and Samojedic languages. The Fenno-Ugric group is separate further into Finno-Permic (which include the Sámi, Finnic, Mordvinic, Mari and Permic languages) and Ugric (which include Hungarian and the Ob-Ugric languages).
